 The history of horror music : Although the silent era bought us terrifying films the films Nosferatu and cabinet of Dr Caligari both of these films have been rescored several times because of the original music did not survive in the case of Nosferatu and in the case of cabinet of Dr Caligari repurposed music being used originally . How composers makes music sound scary ? In the silent film era most would have no music or they would be accompanied by live musicians who would play popular or classical tunes. Only a few silent film were accompanied by original scores. The first time a thematic musical score was written for a feature length American talkie was for the 1933 movie king Kong and was written by composer Max Steiner this score utilized techniques that would go on to be used in horror movies for decades like mikes mousing in which music matches the characters actions and used short and recurring musical ideas that would typically signify presence of a monster or villain . ...

 Today we were told that we need to talk and go over the gig and give each other feedback individually and as a group altogether so we took it in turns to talk and give our feedback which had to be positive but critical as well. So Cameron was first and I gave my feedback about him and then he had to say about his self too it went on until we all had our turn . You'll see what was said on their blog so I'm not going to put it into mine as its not necessary . So here's was my feedback . So I was told that my timing was good as rhythm playing and also as I did the lead on the songs and I was told I hadn't made any mistakes from they could tell  I was told that the solo was good and perfect as all the notes were right and Dan said he could see that I have been going over that solo for a while he could tell that I have been practicing it and perfecting it which is nice to hear as I tried my best to make and perform that solo the best way I could so I'm glad it was liked...

A bit about my influences and the reasons of why I chose music and guitar in case you wanted to know a bit more about me . So I started guitar when I was 15 years old I felt like that was bit of late age compared to some people because I know some people start when they are younger then I was but they say your never too old something like that and my guitar teacher started when he was 15 as well so at least I wasn't the only one . I had guitars over the years before I was 15 just random ones never really took to it just had it in my bedroom sat there one day.  I just tried to learn myself I thought I really want to learn more about this is interesting I want to be able to learn about it . So I told my parents I want some guitar lessons so they said okay I will have a look online. So my parents went online I don't know what website exactly but said my daughter wants guitar lessons something like that's on there for then people who do music to contact us or we contact them ab...

 Write up from the gig last night  18/5/23 So i went to the gig I got there about 6 and the wait a bit got myself ready I did tune my guitar up before I left home but I checked it again at the gig as I didn't want to perform with my guitar out of tune as the g string is known for going out of tune and i was doing bends on it for the solos and stuff . So I checked .Then a group from level 3 year 2 I think they were came on and performed there original songs I think in total they did about 4 or 5 there was a piano ,bass and drums in it so we sat there and watched that and then someone's joined them for a song or two with the guitar .  After that we had another group on which was the high levels from  us either level 3 year 2 or hnd not so sure as I don't know them . So this group was some original and some covers and it was drums ,guitar and vocals and some backing in the background that was made and played whilst they were performing of different sounds and the vocals...

 Write up from rehearsal  18/5/23 Today we went into the rehearsal room as an exam was going on so we couldn't work in room 310 like we normally do .So we got set up and we had to move the piano and some of leads out the way and got the pedals and everything ready and set to go .  Then we did a warm up and song we used for that was London dungeon that went good no problems with that . Then we did a run through of join me in death then square hammer ,then pet semertary and heaven and hell a run through of everything basically there all good and ready to go .  We then talked about the song we started on Tuesday which was to live is to die by Metallica and so we listened to it through the Pa system and we talked about it and I don't really know it that well I only know one riff that's it and Alfie doesn't know it so we discussed whether we think we would be able to learn it and do it in time and I said no I'm not comfortable doing it as I probably wont remember it that...

 Write up from rehearsal and production  16/5/23 Today we got the white board from the rehearsal room were working in last Friday and Caroline write down the order of the setlist on there and Lennon wanted to do to live is to die by Metallica still so Lennon put it on through the Pa so we could have a listen to it as I don't know the song that well . So I tried looking at it on my phone and got the tab up on ultimate guitar and we decided that to see it better to get the music stand from the other rehearsal room and then also to get it printed off which Caroline did for us and then we had a look at it tried having ago at it went through it with Lennon too and listened back to the track to see how many times the one riff was being played we just tried to go round it. Then after that we decided we needed a break from that so we then instead did a run through of my hero which could of gone a bit better. Then we had a 15 minute break .  Todays write up from rehearsal  15/5/23 Today we ran through the set list the order has been changed slightly I don't know if it is staying like that or that's just what we did today . we ran through London dungeon about half of it to warm us up a bit whilst Cameron was doing vocal warms up so they said .  Then we ran through square hammer ,London dungeon ,join me in death ,pet semertary ,heaven and hell and they didn't want to rehearse my hero but we did as Phil said what needs rehearsing the most and we now have decided  to scrap for whom the bells troll because the song is too long again and to many parts to learn and we just wouldn't get it done in time so its not worth going up at the gig and embarrassing ourselves by forgetting it I don't want to do that so its best to scrap it and work on the songs we do have instead .  Then we took a break and talked about the gig so we were told by Phil that group a are not doing it they are doing another gig on Friday...

 This is a recording of my hero by the foo fighters I asked Sandra to video us as we had no videos yet of these song so i wanted some evidence of the song . This is join me in death a song that just learnt recently and we have finished it now and its all going good and ready to go another one i got Sandra to film for us. This is trying to go over me and Lennon together of the guitar parts of the new song for whom the bells troll which you will see in the video didn't go quite right messed up a bit I got losted because its a new song and I don't know it that well.. This is a long video of what we got so far of the whom the bells troll by Metallica and we doing a run through altogether of what we have learnt and got so far.

 Write up from todays rehearsal  12/5/23 Today we run through the set list of the normal songs we didn't do it in order we mixed it up bit played London dungeon ,join me in death ,square hammer ,pet semartary , heaven and hell they all went good tried out the pedal on the solo and the riffs of the songs .  The pedal I used was a distortion one Joel gave me I didn't get a photo of it but i will next time I used it mainly on the riffs of every song and then i used all the way through my hero when we had decided to do the close to the original version We then said we should rehearse my hero by the foo fighters as Dan wanted too try the drums out on it so we said should we do the acoustic version of it or the original one so we first tried out the acoustic version to see how it sounds but without the bass and drums sounded a bit empty so we added that into the acoustic version we then tried it out without it being acoustic we then played version close to the original with the...

 Write up from rehearsal 11/5/23 Today we started off with going through London dungeon to warm us up a bit but the timing was a bit slow then what we normally play so we went through it again at normal speed and I tried out distortion pedal Joel gave me to use and I used it on the riff because that's where it sounds best . Then we went through square hammer because we wanted too but also I wanted to try out the pedal as the main reason we had the pedal out was for the solo on square hammer to give it more sound and make it louder which it did .  write up from todays lesson  9/5/23 Today we talked about what it is that we can rehearse without the other two by that I mean Alfie and Dan so we said lets rehearse my hero but i was fine with rehearsing it but there was abit of like no i don't really want going on so we instead talked about the others songs the new ones which are welcome to hell by venom and all nightmare long by Metallica .  So Lennon asked me where have i got with them i said i have been trying to learn them and i have got bit progress with venom i have been trying it out at home he said he hasn't looked at them so he wanted me too play it so he could join in at some point i said it would help if I had the music /backing track on with me so we put that on through the PA well Cameron did for me I tried to but I kind of forgot how the song went and we spoke about it and said that there's some problems there like Lennon hasn't learnt it and mien was the timing of it so we talked about changing it and ...

But they did say we would shorted it but what parts would be cut out and I don't want to learn it and the parts I have learnt get cut out because that's a waste of my time when I could been learning the parts that we are doing and I think the song as too many parts and to complex for the short amount of time that we have got left we will discuss about the song on Thursday but from what I have seen the song is no for me if we wanted to this song we should of done when we first started working on this gig it should of been done months ago not now as we just don't have the time .
