28/4/23

Today we started getting set up in room 310 and  then I got called out to talk about theory work so when I went back in they were rehearsing square hammer. But then we had to pack away and  move into rehearsal room somewhere else as someone had an exam and we didn't want to be too loud so then we got set up in the other room we moved too and then we ran through the setlist so the 3 and half songs that we have got so far and then because we were having one to one with Phil about our theory when we were rehearsing pet semertary Dan was out the room so Alfie gave the drums ago and then when Dan came back he said he wanted us to rehearse pet semertary so we went over it again as he said it was fun to play . 

Then we took our break and then after break we started looking at brainstorm again so I kind of forgot the way the chords went so Joel went over it with me again and then I remembered last time we rehearsed it we got up to about the first verse I think it was so we didn't really remember how to play it as we haven't rehearsed in awhile so we listened to it through the speakers to all the way through and then we talked about he structure it does eight bars of f power chord and then I play that for another eight bars whilst.

Lennon plays a riff on it and then one guitar plays the power chords and then with the drums and bass the guitar plays the riff another 4 times and then the vocals come in and then it does it again but Joel notice in the second half of the chorus I think it was that the one guitar lightly changes and plays something else whilst the other plays the same power chords  so just to be sure we put the song back on to listen to it and see where it changes  I think Lennon will learn that bit but I will have a look into it too.

We also had a discussion about some songs that Stephen might want to do there was a mention of hands of doom by Black Sabbath and Dani California by the red hot chilli peppers and some acoustic versions of other songs don't know yet what exactly but Stephen did mention he finds it difficult sometimes to play the guitar and sing at the same time . Need to have a look at it over the next few days and the other songs that we mentioned yesterday need to look at them too.

What went well?

Not a lot went well today if I am being honest but considering we haven't played brainstorm for a bit we got some of it rehearsed today again and it didn't go to bad as we haven't rehearsed it that much the other songs that we have got so far are going well we just keep running through them so we don't forget them they are ready to go .

What problems did you encounter and how did you resolve them ?

Well I got a bit stressed about the new songs that we have got to do so I just need some time to look into them and work on them as we need to get them done by the gig which about 2 weeks I think away so I got a bit stressed about it as I like to get things done in time and I don't want to forget the song on stage due to being under rehearsed . 

Last week I was told that we weren't doing brainstorm but now we seem to be doing it again so we went over that a bit in todays lesson so that makes me feel a bit better about the song and the lack of people not being focused in lesson is hard for someone like me who would rather be getting the song done  and learnt and the new songs I just need to go and look at them see what I can and can not do in them and go from there its not that I can't do it necessarily its sometimes it takes me long to do as I sometimes have issues with timing and it takes me longer to do it but I do get it done as I don't like giving up .

What are your plans for next week?

Well next week we come back in on Thursday so even though I'm not at college till then I plan to look at these songs and get some of the parts learnt to them because I have time to look at them and go at my own pace and if there's is a part I can't do or I have trouble with I can ask about it on Thursday and get some help with it we will probably run through the set list again like we normally do but I think the focus should be on the 3 new songs and learn some songs if Stephens needs or wants us too .
