write up on what we did last week 22/3/23

Reflection log

22/3/23 

I have already written about what we did in lesson last week .

So what went well is we managed to get the riff better than the Friday before that and over the weekend me and Lennon both worked on the riff and we came back and we both was able to play it. Then we manage to do some run throughs of the song square hammer and then we talked about who is doing the solo  no one wanted to do it and I offered to do it because I’ve done it before on the other song for the other gig we had back in October.

So I did  a bit of improvisation for it and then I went home and worked on some solo stuff and looked at the original solo for the song and took some ideas out of that and made it my own and add stuff I’ve done before together with some of the stuff from the original. Thursday we did some runs throughs of square hammer and London dungeon again and Friday we did the same we managed to get Alfie to play the bass for square hammer and got him playing bass for London dungeon as three guitar players is a bit much in one song playing the same things as each other you got make sure the timing and stuff is right which might become a problem when live in certain songs like square hammer if you’re not in time with one and another then it's going to sound odd and not very nice .

Joel asked us what we think we did well I said I think the solo went well as I just put it together recently in the that week and then he said what do we think we could improve on which was me and Lennon

making sure we are listening out for each other and make sure timing is accurate.

 

What problems did we encounter and how did we overcome them? 

Well when I went in on Monday afternoon lesson  the was a disagreement with Alfie ,Lennon ,Cameron and dan about the song square hammer by ghost Alfie said he didn’t want to do it and said some not so nice things as dan told me so Alfie went out the room and didn’t want to play so us four played the song together as I'm not bothered about doing the song and I don’t dislike it and Lennon doesn’t like it but  said he would play it and we have everyone we need for it anyway at the time . Thursday when we rehearsed Alfie still didn’t join us for the songs even when we rehearsing the song London dungeon the song he picked so we still rehearse without him and then Joel was playing the bass on Friday for us and then Joel somehow got Alfie playing the bass for square hammer and now he’s playing the bass for it so Joel I don’t know how resolved the issue.  

What are your plans for the upcoming week and what do you need to prepare? 

Well last Friday we discussed throughout the day what songs we are going to do next we looked at different options which I discussed in my reflection of lesson in the other word document that I done last week and we decided that we would do a Black Sabbath song hand of doom  by Black Sabbath and Lennon wanted me to play the main guitar in it which I said I would and then Stephen would learn the lyrics and sing it to get him included into a song as he is just sat there and got no song in show/gig yet.

So Richard got me the tab for it and Stephen the lyrics for it and I went home and learn some of it over the weekend and listened to it and then and then Monday when I went in we didn’t get any rehearsing done because of them messing about there some miscommunication there because Lennon told me he wanted to do hand of doom by Black Sabbath and then when I went in there he told he wants to do a mix up of both hand of doom and heaven and hell which I have not looked at heaven and hell .

So we got the tab for it but one it's in a different tuning and also I need to figure out the timing and stuff so I would have been much more comfortable playing the hand of doom one or rehearsing what sings we have already got so far then we said lets rehearse join me in death by him and Lennon and dan didn’t want to do it so we ended up not doing anything and I left early as I got frustrated at them because it was a complete waste of my time.

So  I’m not sure what the plan is for this week apart from Sandra went to them asked what songs we are doing for definite and then said London dungeon ,square hammer , pet semertary , join me in death and Black Sabbath song so we need get some of these put together and learnt these week so the plan is to get the songs we want to do and get the arrangement sorted everyone know what they are doing and there parts and get the rehearsed and stop the messing about and be productive . 

I will come back to these on Thursday and say how things have tuned out.
